RSL Care's Talbarra Retirement Community is a state-of-the-art development located in the semi-rural suburb of Waterford, between Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Talbarra caters for the changing needs of modern seniors by providing quality aged care accommodation, architecturally designed villas and the support of on-going care.
Situated 30kms south of Brisbane, on the northern fringe of the Gold Coast, Talbarra is set in a tranquil area on 16 hectares of leafy grassland. The community is conveniently located just 4.5 kilometres from the Logan Hyperdome and the bustling retail centre of Beenleigh.
Talbarra welcomed its first residents in September 2006 following completion of Stage One comprising 60 residential care beds and 41 independent living villas. Stage One is now sold out.
Construction of Stage Two independent living is due to commence in early 2008 and will comprise 39 villas as well as resort style community club including pool and spa, barbeque and recreation area and library. Prices and plans will be available early 2008 once released; expressions of interest are currently being invited.
When all the stages are complete, Talbarra will be RSL Care's largest fully integrated retirement community with a 120 bed residential care facility, 199 independent living villas with resort style facilities and RSL HomeCare services available.

No more maintenance
Enjoy more time for you. We maintain the outside of all villas as well as the village infrastructure and gardens.
No risk guarantee
Villas are resident (equity) funded and are available by way of a 'loan and license' agreement. Any financial risks are reduced with our special buy-back arrangements. RSL Care guarantees to buy back your villa for the price you paid (less deferred fees), if it hasn't sold within 6 months of being put on the market. If your villa sells within 6 months, RSL Care will return to you a half share of the capital gain (less deferred fees).
Facilities:
Resort-style facilities, which will be constructed during Stage Two independent living, will include: a recreational hall, solar heated pool complex with heated spa, BBQ area, auditorium, billiards room, library and hairdresser.
Residential Care:
A 60 bed residential care facility is located on site at Talbarra Retirement Community and provides accommodation for those needing low, high and dementia care.
Low care accommodation:
15 places are available for residents requiring a low level of care. The facility provides suites with private outdoor areas, share kitchen, furnished lounge and TV area. Each private suite is furnished with bedroom furniture and linen, emergency call system, en-suite, a ceiling fan and heater.
High care accommodation:
Available for residents requiring a high level of care, the facility has 30 single rooms offering an emergency call system, ceiling fans and heaters, over bed lighting, television aerial connection and en-suite.
Dementia Care:
15 dementia specific places are accommodated in our secure wing for residents experiencing dementia related conditions. The accommodation provides a tranquil environment with a pergola setting and furnished communal area.
HomeCare:
Integral to the care continuum is RSL HomeCare; offering a range of services assisting people to remain independent in their own homes. HomeCare is available to those living in Talbarra's independent living villas as well as the wider community.
Our team of community nurses, trained carers and volunteers work with clients and their families to design and deliver tailored assistance packages that meet each client's health and lifestyle needs.
From personal care, domestic assistance and meal preparation to community nursing, home based respite and transportation, the flexibility of HomeCare assistance means that as needs change so too can the type of assistance provided.

You can receive RSL HomeCare through referral by a medical practitioner or self referral. Costs vary depending on each individual's eligibility for government funded programs. These services usually require a minimal co-payment, however if clients are financially disadvantaged, co-payments may be reduced or waived. Those who don't meet the eligibility criteria are still able to obtain HomeCare services on a fee-for-service basis.
