RSL Care's Rowes Bay Retirement Community occupies a beautiful location overlooking Magnetic Island, Townsville. It is within an easy stroll to the beach, parkland and local recreational facilities.

With a relaxed feel and strong sense of community spirit, Rowes Bay Retirement Community accommodates 124 independent villas, with a residential care facility providing high, low and special 'ageing in place' care facility. facility.

Staff, volunteers and residents regularly enjoy activities and outings thanks to an active social committee.

To meet the growing demand for services a 30 new high care places will be available from June 2007. Applications are currently being accepted (all members of the community are welcome - applicants require a current aged care and asset assessment).

KEY SERVICES

High and low care accommodation:

Available for residents requiring a low level of care, the facility provides suites with:

  • Private outdoor areas
  • Share kitchen
  • Furnished lounge
  • TV area

Each private suite is furnished with bedroom furniture and linen, emergency call system, en suite, ceiling fans and heaters.

Ageing in place
A wing accommodating 30 residents provides ageing in place services, which means that residents have no need to relocate as their care needs change. Rowes Bay ageing-in-place facility has a Registered Nurse and other staff on duty 24 hours a day.
Retirement Villas:
The retirement community is comprised of 124 independent villas and 20 bedsitter's, all are of high quality, represent excellent value and are architecturally designed to meet the special needs of retirees.

Special features include of the independent villas include:

  • Emergency 24 hour call system
  • Open plan kitchens and private courtyards
  • Level design with lock-up garage

Each serviced apartment features a bed/living area, kitchenette, separate en-suite and provision for laundry facilities, security doors, screens and curtains.

Special care:
Special Care is available in our Cottage for residents experiencing dementia related conditions. This Cottage is a secure environment with a private garden and pergola setting. The unit has individual rooms with shared bathroom facilities and an air-conditioned common area; all located in two peaceful secure cottages complete with courtyard.
Respite accommodation:
Short term respite accommodation is available to give carers time out to enjoy a short break, for both high and low care clients.
HomeCare:

RSL HomeCare is all about supporting independence, helping people stay at home in their community for as long as possible.

Our team of community nurses, trained carers and volunteers work with clients and their families to design and deliver tailored assistance package that meet each client's health and lifestyle needs.

From personal care, domestic assistance and meal preparation to community nursing, home based respite and transportation, the flexibility of HomeCare assistance means that as needs change so too can the type of assistance provided.

You can receive RSL HomeCare through referral made by a medical practitioner or self referral. Costs vary depending on each individual's eligibility for government funded programs. These services usually require a minimal co-payment, however if clients are financially disadvantaged, co-payments may be reduced or waived. Those who don't meet the eligibility criteria are still able to obtain HomeCare services on a fee-for-service basis.
