Residential Care

RSL Care supports a philosophy of 'ageing in place'. This means that, as needs change, every effort is made to help residents access higher levels of care within the same community. Residential care at Westhaven reflects the same philosophy.

Designed for low, high and special care needs, the fully integrated residential care community has the security of an emergency call system as well as care staff on duty 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. A hairdresser also visits the community weekly.

Low care cottages are furnished with bed, linen and side table and feature built-in robes, ceiling fans, heaters and private outdoor areas. Each cottage has its own well equipped kitchen, furnished lounge and TV area. Residents are encouraged to bring personal items.

The higher care section offers single-room accommodation with ensuite and the special care cottage caters for residents with dementia, offering a secure environment with an exclusive private garden and pergola setting.

Whilst the physical and social features of RSL Care's residential communities are important, many find comfort in knowing that the facilities at Westhaven meet strict standards and are government accredited. Residents can also be assured that RSL Care's team of specialist staff will deliver the highest standard of genuine, individualised care.

Like all RSL Care facilities, access to residential care is subject to assessment by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT), room availability and payment of fees appropriate to your financial circumstances.

Retirement Villas

Westhaven's bustling retirement village comprises 97 established one and two bedroom independent living villas. The village is co-located with an integrated residential aged care community.

RSL Care also maintains the outside of all villas, as well as the village infrastructure and general gardens. This means residents have no maintenance worries and more time to enjoy Westhaven's active social program, which includes everything from line dancing and tai chi to sightseeing tours.

And while most residents may never need residential care, many choose RSL Care retirement communities because these facilities are located nearby.

Dementia Care:
Dementia care is available in our Cottage for residents experiencing dementia related conditions. This Cottage is a secure environment with a private garden and pergola setting.
HomeCare:

RSL Care HomeCare is all about supporting independence, helping people stay at home in their community for as long as possible.

Our team of community nurses, trained carers and volunteers work with clients and their families to design and deliver tailored assistance package that meet each client's health and lifestyle needs.

From personal care, domestic assistance and meal preparation to community nursing, home based respite and transportation, the flexibility of Home Care assistance means that as needs change so too can the type of assistance provided.

You can receive RSL HomeCare through referral made by a medical practitioner or self referral. Costs vary depending on each individual's eligibility for government funded programs. These services usually require a minimal co-payment, however if clients are financially disadvantaged, co-payments may be reduced or waived. Those who don't meet the eligibility criteria are still able to obtain HomeCare services on a fee-for-service basis.
