Bolton Point and Rathmines, Lake Macquarie

In 2006, RSL Care took over the operation of Macquarie Shores Aged Care Centre at Bolton Point and The Don Geddes Catalina Memorial Aged Care Centre in Rathmines, in New South Wales.

The Macquarie Shores facility has a long history of providing care for returned Service men and women. The original building was built mid way through World War II with funds raised by the local RSL branch for the purpose of creating a living memorial, or facility, to care for ailing Ex-service men and women.

In 1990, a private hospital at Rathmines was acquired and the Don Geddes Catalina Memorial was developed into an aged care facility to support Macquarie in caring for the aging Ex-service community.

To meet the needs of an increasing population, throughout the years, both facilities have undergone expansion and upgrades. Across the two sites RSL Care now provides 54 independent living villas, 157 care beds including a 30 bed dementia unit to the ex-service and wider community.

Macquarie View Self Care Units

Located right on the shores of magnificent Lake Macquarie amongst acres of landscaped gardens and open bushland, Macquarie View offers beautifully designed two and two bedroom plus study, fully self contained, easy access villas and apartments.

Created for relaxed independent living, these modern spacious units have been designed to incorporate the lake views and include lock up garages and plenty of storage space.

Conveniently located close to amenities including activities centre, billiards room, library, barbecue area, picnic areas and jetty, these affordable homes, provide and independent lifestyle, security, peace of mind, plus on-site services are available if required.

Macquarie Shores Aged Care Centre

Designed for low, high and special care needs, Macquarie Shores Aged Care Centre is a fully integrated residential care community for seniors who have the security of an emergency call system as well as registered nurses and other care staff on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The centre offers beautiful lake views, open terraces, picnic areas leading to the waterfront. Accommodation is modern including single rooms with ensuites and a special care facility offering a secure environment for dementia residents.

Quality services include cleaning, laundry, security, therapeutics and activities all in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

This unique residential care facility, ideally positioned in pleasant bushlands surrounds on the shores of Lake Macquarie at Rathmines, provides special and high care.

RSL HomeCare (formerly Macquarie Community Aged Care Program)

RSL HomeCare is all about supporting independence, helping people stay at home in their community for as long as possible.

Our team of community nurses, trained carers and volunteers work with clients and their families to design and deliver tailored assistance package that meet each client's health and lifestyle needs.

From personal care, domestic assistance and meal preparation to community nursing, home based respite and transportation, the flexibility of HomeCare assistance means that as needs change so too can the type of assistance provided.

Available to all members of the community our service include:

You can receive RSL HomeCare through referral made by a medical practitioner or self referral. Costs vary depending on each individual's eligibility for government funded programs. These services usually require a minimal co-payment, however if clients are financially disadvantaged, co-payments may be reduced or waived. Those who don't meet the eligibility criteria are still able to obtain HomeCare services on a fee-for-service basis.
