RSL Care is one of Australia's most respected not-for-profit providers of HomeCare, retirement living and residential care. RSL Care grew out of a commitment of the RSL Queensland to 'care for our mates', particularly those in need.
Donations and Bequests have played a huge part of RSL Care's history since 1936, when philanthropist and prominent businessman, George Marchant, kindly donated a large residence – 'Kingshome' in suburban Brisbane for 60 burnt out and unemployable diggers. 'Kingshome' gave them a social structure, a strong sense of community, security and a healthy lifestyle.
In 1947, grazier, mining industry leader and World War 1 veteran, Malcolm Newman donated his home 'Fernhill' at Caboolture – a million dollar gift in today's market!
From these simple beginnings, RSL Care today provides peace of mind and quality, retirement lifestyle choices to almost 18,000 ageing Australians in 24 communities throughout Queensland and New South Wales and RSL Care's range of HomeCare services.
The need for aged care continues to grow with thousands of ageing Australians looking to RSL Care for their aged care and retirement lifestyle options. RSL Care is ready to answer these needs and invites people who understand the importance of affordable, well managed aged care communities to support the following programs:
Support for this program ensures all residents are able to receive manageable treatment without admission to hospital.
Support for this program ensures all residents have access to regular group social outings and HomeCare staff access to a fleet of modern cars to care for people in their own home.
Support for this program ensures RSL Care can develop new retirement communities and additional services.
Our Donations and Bequests Program presents an opportunity to regularly support the work of RSL Care with tax-deductible donations and the ultimate gift – a Bequest in your Will.

As we all reach the milestone of making a choice about where we wish to live in our retirement years, we often find this includes updating an existing Will or, in some cases, making a Will for the very first time.
Your Will is a legal document that allows you to formalise who will receive your assets and possessions. Having an up-to-date Will allows you to show how much you care for your loved ones, family and friends. It can also be the perfect opportunity to make a Bequest gift that has the potential to help thousands of ageing Australians who will turn to RSL Care for their aged care services and retirement lifestyle choices.
With a Bequest gift in your Will to benefit RSL Care, you'll be sharing the vision of our founders to provide safe and caring accommodation where our ex-service men and women and the wider community of thousands of ageing Australians can live in peace, with dignity and the very best of quality care.
There are three types of gift you can leave as a Bequest in your Will to benefit RSL Care. We recommend you discuss these with your legal advisor. These gifts are directed to general purposes outlined as RSL Care programs:
If you would like to nominate RSL Care as a beneficiary of your estate with a Bequest gift, we have prepared the following wording as suitable for discussion with your legal advisor:
'I give free of all duties the sum of $_________, or____%, or the residue of my estate to RSL (Qld) War Veterans' Homes Limited (ABN 90 010 488 454). A receipt from the Secretary of RSL Care for the time being will be sufficient discharge for my trustees.'
Gifts of real estate, artworks, jewellery, shares, bonds, and life insurance policies are some of the other ways to make a Bequest in your Will to benefit RSL Care.
If you would like to receive a copy of our Bequests in Wills Kit, please contact our Bequests Manager. We are always available to answer your questions and tell you more of the many projects and programs a Bequest gift can support.
If you have already made the commitment to help thousands of ageing Australians, including our ex-service community and families with a Bequest gift in your Will to benefit RSL Care, we would sincerely appreciate meeting with you. Please take time to let us know of your intentions in the form below.

Everyone who confirms a Bequest gift is made in their Will to RSL Care is invited to join the Brunsfelsia Benefactors' Club. Members receive an attractive framed certificate acknowledging their Bequest gift.
When a bequest gift matures, RSL Care will acknowledge the support with a memorial plaque in a garden at the RSL Care retirement community of choice. The plaque ensures the benefactor's memory lives on through RSL Care's important work.
Thank you for your interest in RSL Care's important work which is in direct response to an urgent and growing community need for affordable, quality, lifestyle retirement choices for thousands of ageing Australians.
Care and support of our older community members is a true remembrance of who we are as Australians.
